Virtues of Recitation & Memorization

Ā’ishah (Radiyallāhu ‘Anha)
Rasulullah (Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wasallam) said: “One who is proficient in the Qur’ān will be with the noble, righteous scribes (angels), and the one who reads the Qur’ān with difficulty, stammering or faltering through it, will receive double the reward.” — Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

Ali ibn Abi Tālib (Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu)
Rasulullah (Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever recites the Qur’ān, memorizes it, and regards what it makes Halāl as Halāl and what it makes Harām as Harām, Allah will admit him into Jannah and accept his intercession for ten members of his family who were destined for Hell.”

Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2905

Ibn Mas‘ud (Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu)
“Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that ‘Alif Lām Mīm’ is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lām is a letter, and Mīm is a letter.”

Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2910
